Banging The Drum for Bombed Out!

I’ve illustrated this article with photos of drummers and drum kits of bands mentioned in the book.
I’m still receiving fantastic feedback on my Punk, New Wave memoir, Bombed Out! and now I have also re-commenced trying to get the film made.
I fictionalised the book for the screenplay and it has recently won FIVE ‘Best Screenplay’ awards in Film Festivals in the UK and the USA, which I’m pleased about.
Since publishing the book, I have had to do two print runs, which isn’t bad for a self-published and self-marketed book about Punk and the 1980s.
I’m hoping to leverage recent interest in Punk and New Wave into having the film made, although that’s always a hard thing to achieve – you just have to give it your best shot.
Although I never planned to make money off the book – I reckon only the foolish or deluded would actually self-publish a book and expect to make money from it – I hoped to at least try not to lose money on it and this break-even point has now been achieved.
If I do a new edition I’ll change the colour of the front cover, maybe to a green instead of yellow hue, so all the first edition book buyers will have something hopefully of collectable value.
I may also change the time on the Liver Buildings clock on the front cover. Currently it shows seven minutes to midnight, which is of course relevant to the Domesday clock, and a track by a Liverpool band called Wah Heat! (who are name-checked in the book).
I’d change it to show the time of 10.15, which is a nod to the Cure’s single 10.15 on a Saturday Night, a fantastic track, which also gets a mention in the book.
