Any Idea? Punk People Before They Were Famous…

The above low resolution photo shows the Godfather of British Punk, aka Malcom McLaren, at his Bar Mitzvah ceremony.

A long time after this photo was taken, McLaren went on to manage the New York Dolls, the Sex Pistols and to become a significant force in carving out space and massive publicity for the Punk scene in the UK, especially through his management of the Sex Pistols’ various misdeeds.

In 1977: McLaren (left) with the Sex Pistols outside Buckingham Palace, singing yet another lucrative recording contract which would shortly be ripped up by the record company.

Fashion-wise he opened a shop called ‘Sex’ with Vivienne Westwood, which also acted as an (expensive) outrider for Punk fashions.

Unfortunately, McLaren died of cancer in 2010, in a hospital in Switzerland.
